A training under the project "GIS School 2018" was held in the Central Botanical Garden of ANAS


The training was conducted within the framework of the project "Geographical Information Systems (GIS) School" supported by the Council of State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan at the Central Botanical Garden of ANAS. The training, conducted by the head of Information Technology Department of the garden, Yusif Abiyev, was dedicated to the topic "Using GPS devices in field studies." First, the participants were informed about the live collection of the Central Botanical Garden and the research work carried out here.

Participants are divided into groups, which include the GPS navigator's working principles, types, locations to use, coordinate assignment, GPS coordinate point selection, and more. theoretical and practical exercises were held. The training will continue with practical exercises on the use of received coordinates in Google Earth and ArcGIS10 software, use of software in landscape architecture and 3D dendro plans.
